What's new
The latest improvements to Orbital, newest first.
Recently added New
- Hotkey Layouts. Save whole home screens and switch between them in one tap.
- A refreshed theme store: hold any theme to preview it on your home screen, browse by mood and color, explore curated collections, and sort and filter the catalog.
- New themes with hand-made wallpapers, and a wallpaper gallery with art from museum collections and NASA pictures.
- A wallpaper for each page, and widgets you can pin over every page.
- The letter rail can magnify and curve around your thumb, in plain, pill or highlight style.
- Choose each app's icon: its own, matched to the rest, from an icon pack, or your own.
- Notifications & events, a new widget, and the smart widget in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
- Updates inside the app, with what's new shown after each one.
- Orbit Pad. A new home layout: hold the pad where your thumb rests and every app orbits around it, then slide onto one and let go. It also comes as a dock style and a widget.
- Showcase. A new home layout of large tiles over a backdrop in the color of the app you're on, with shelves, quick actions and widget bays. Works with a game controller.
- Five more languages: Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Hindi, with Orbital Assistant in each.
- The theme store gets a theme of the week, drops, seasonal themes, browsing by mood and color, and try before you apply.
- Match my wallpaper, a free theme that takes its color from your wallpaper, and a wallpaper gallery.
- Dock Menu, a small pill under the status bar that opens into a card of your apps.
- The app drawer gets tabs, its own edit mode, two to ten columns and sorting by category.
0.10
- Themes grouped by style, each with a dock and layout to match.
- Bring your home screen from another launcher, with a preview first and Undo after.
- Gestures: swipes, double tap and two-finger swipes, each set to what you like.
- The letter dock fits its apps, sits where you choose and makes room on the page.
- Free roam carries widgets across pages and has a map for moving folders.
- Resize widgets from any edge, and the calendar fills the space it's given.
- Edit mode's buttons are grouped, with Done last.
0.9
- "Add to Home screen" works. Shortcuts and widgets offered by Chrome, Maps, Contacts and other apps land right on the page in front of you.
- Orbital Assistant at the top of your app list. It understands what you type as you type it: an errand shows what it will do with a button to do it, a sum shows its answer, and an app name finds the app.
- Free roam moves freely, with a small guide showing which folder you're in and where you are on its canvas.
- Carry widgets between pages. Hold one at the edge of the screen while arranging and the next page turns to meet it.
- Type a slash from any app to open Orbital Assistant on phones with a keyboard.
- More apps per row on an open foldable.
- Cancel is back in edit mode, and it asks before discarding your changes.
- Keyboard phones can keep the home screen upright and choose what typing does.
0.8
- Folders you can walk into on Free roam. Spread two fingers to open a folder or start one, and pinch to step back out.
- Drawer mode for the dock. The dock becomes an alphabet, with the apps for each letter just above it.
- Widgets on the Drawer layout, above or below your apps.
- Shortcut marks for Orbital Assistant: @ to text, + for an event, - for a note, * for a reminder, ^ to open an app, # to call and & for a to-do.
- A Command prompt look for the assistant.
- Orbital as your phone's assistant, opening over any app.
- Swipe down can open your notifications.
- A snappier home screen when pages land, when edit mode opens and when you move through folders.
0.7
- Holding the background goes straight into edit mode, with Widgets, the clock, the wallpaper and Settings close at hand.
- Picking up widgets is quicker, and a widget lands exactly where you let go.
- Two pages side by side when you open a foldable.
- Eight named colors, each with a single slider.
- Rows in the app drawer: an alphabetical list, several apps to a row.
- Matrix, with glyphs falling behind every card.
- Every animation follows your Motion setting.
